who we are

Syndicate West Architects is Martin West and Carolin Mertens.

Martin began as an apprentice toolmaker aged 16. He worked for 12 years as a professional modelmaker before training and practising in architecture and urbanism for the last 20 years. He recently graduated from Cambridge University with an MSt (Cantab) in Interdisciplinary Design of the Built Environment. All this experience is culminated in Syndicate West Architects.

Carolin came from Germany in 1995 to study architecture at the University of East London, which is where Carolin and Martin met. She had 15 years experience working as a designer with some top London Design practices, before setting up Syndicate West Architects.
